An Unbelievably Simple Way To Make Some Good Ol’ Carpaccio

July 6, 2021
/

In the wonderful world of cooking, there are thousands of cuisines and dishes that originate from all around the world, and that's the magic of culinary art. But, is there anything quite like a carpaccio?

If you are wondering what carpaccio is, then brace yourself for an unexpected answer. Carpaccio is a protein-based dish that is basically raw and served as an appetizer. This dish dates all the way back to 1950, created by none other than Giuseppe Cipriani in Venice.

Before diving into its preparation, let’s talk about the ingredients that go into this fine delicacy.

Ingredients for Classic Venetian Carpaccio

  • Half a pound of beef tenderloin, sirloin
  • ¼ cup of Mayonnaise
  • ½ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • A bit of lemon
  • White pepper
  • Heavy cream (1-2 tsp)

Here’s How You Make Carpaccio

Firstly, you are simply going to take your mayonnaise and mix it with the Worcestershire sauce. Next, add in the lemon juice and white pepper, depending on how you like it. Lastly, add the heavy cream to help the sauce maintain a less runny consistency. Once the sauce is prepared, you must lay out your meat slices and add the sauce. There you have it; your delicious carpaccio is ready to be served.

Here Are Some Extra Tips

Now, everything might seem simple but, how are you going to execute this dish? Firstly, when cutting the meat into slices, many people may suggest that you should freeze the meat to a point where you can easily slice and have complete control over the meat. However, that is not quite necessary.

All you need to do is to take a piece of beef and pound it. You can place wax paper over and under the beef, or a large zipper bag, while doing so. This will help you get your perfect and thin beef “slice”.

The rolling pin might not give you the best outcomes as the mallet will, but you can make do. We would recommend getting a mallet if possible since they are also great for making steaks.

Wrapping It Up

You are not truly a foodie if you haven’t tried every dish at least once. Since this dish is based on delicacy and finesse, creating it at home is not your usual task. So before you decide that it isn’t for you, do consider the tips mentioned above to help you make your own carpaccio like a professional.
