Good food can be a yummy bliss. Imagine going to a restaurant you love and bumping into your favorite celebrity---sounds like a dream, doesn't it? That would be an entirely new rush of excitement in itself. After all, even stars need food.

The River Café London, an open space restaurant with its riverside garden setting, has been a host to several celebrities over the years. This exquisite restaurant serves the most amazing Italian food in London, or so the lore goes, and there have been sightings of stars like Lindsay Lohan, Lily Aldridge, and some other celebrities who have chosen the restaurant as a go to for some of their occasions, mostly birthdays.

The owner of this exceptional restaurant is the celebrity chef Ruth Rogers, who in her own right is fit for the culinary hall of fame. Rogers wasn’t always the sole owner of the River Café, but took over and became the only owner of the restaurant after the death of co-owner and chef, Rose Gray.  The chefs had trained several others while they cooked together, and among them are the famous chefs Jamie Oliver, Sam Clarke and Theo Randall, just to mention a few.

It’s such a shame that the pandemic has caused The River Café London to remain closed. But they have stayed busy preparing their Italian meals for online deliveries to customers. Ruth Rogers mentioned some months after the start of the pandemic in 2020 that restaurants are part of culture, it’s not just a place to go and eat, it could tell you about the city and the people.

She wonders though, if people would still choose to go to restaurants if there are so many guidelines to follow. The restaurant was set to have an interesting year before the pandemic, some of their chefs had gone to Rome earlier in 2020 to prepare and serve an exquisite dinner for Mike Hess and Misha Nonoo where Meghan Markle made a guest appearance.

The River Café London however, has the advantage of the fact that it is an outdoor type of restaurant because covid guidelines are usually more flexible when there is open space. In fact, right now the restrictions are easing up and around May this year, The Irish singer and songwriter, David Paul Hewson, celebrated his 61st birthday at the restaurant.

The singer popularly known as Bono was accompanied by his wife Eve Hewson, who appeared on the trending Netflix series, ‘Behind Her Eyes’, and obviously, he was only allowed a certain number of guests. But these are still good signs that things are returning to normal at the restaurant pretty soon.

Rogers has been patient with reopening and is very concerned about ensuring the safety of the restaurant’s guests. The celebrity chef who is 71, is still very much involved in cooking at her restaurant, a practice which not many acclaimed chefs like her engage in. The menu of the restaurant changes every day and for those who love to try new food, this haven of Italian dishes must be heaven.
