New York’s Famous Local Wines You Must Try

July 7, 2021
/

Since the past six years, March is being considered NY Drinks NY’s month – an initiative to promote New York City's local wine amongst its own people. Surprisingly enough, despite New York housing one of the world's biggest wine markets, the people residing here aren't very aware of the local wines. Hmm, they hail local food but don’t drink local wine, eh? Ain’t it cool enough for them?

American wines are among the most popular and delicious wines on the market. And among them, the most widely sought are California or Oregon wines. But did you know you could also get some great wines from cities like Washington, Texas, and New York? Yep, there’s a huge variety of wines that are produced in these states, and you must try them at the first opportunity you get.

But how would you know which bottles to pick? Well, here are some of our favorites that you can consider.

#1 – Keuka Spring Riesling 2015

The finger lake region is gaining popularity worldwide for its wine, and Keuka Spring Riesling is one that you certainly want to put on your list. Buzzing with the aroma of tropical fruits, it has a gentle and subtle taste and works best as an accompaniment to healthy salads and light meals.

#2 – Glenora Brut NV

Glenora Bruta is quite a sought-after wine that has a light fruity flavor. It oozes froth along with lively bubbles that add a crisp acidity to each sip. This wine is a perfect blend of Chardonnay and Cayuga, but it tastes much better because of its fermentation process. A classic for your celebrations, it’s the perfect sparkling wine!

#3 – Fjord Vineyards Cabernet Franc 2015

The Cabernet Franc 2015 is a delightful and aromatic wine produced by Fjord Vineyards. Along with the bright aroma of cranberries and raspberries, it offers mild savory notes of game and peppercorn. Cabernet franc is a medium-bodied wine with bright shots of acidity and tart red focus that you’d surely enjoy. It brings a lot of vitality to the table and has an impressively balanced flavor of bitter green notes. Something you’d notice in that treasured last sip!

Conclusion

There are many great wines that you can find in the New York State, but the ones listed above are some of our favorites! The region produces some delightfully delicious wines, all thanks to the climate fluctuations it experiences. Still, shockingly enough, most citizens of the state are completely unaware of the astounding variety available at local wine shops. So the next time you visit New York, don't forget to try some of the delectable local wines!
