Store Cut Avocados in a Vacuum

Vacuum sealing is the superhero of avocado storage. This method is all about creating an airtight environment that halts the oxidation process in its tracks. By vacuum sealing your cut avocado, you are essentially putting it in a time capsule. Thus, preserving its freshness and color for days or even weeks.

Though it requires a bit of an investment in a vacuum sealer, the payoff is huge if you are an avocado aficionado.

Store Them in Water

Submerging your cut avocado in water sounds like a kitchen myth, but it is a scientifically sound strategy. Place your avocado halves or slices in a container filled with water, ensuring they are fully submerged. The water acts as a shield, preventing air from reaching the avocado's surface and thereby reducing oxidation.

However, the citrus preserves not only the avocado but also infuses it with a subtle, tangy flavor, enhancing its taste.

Store Them With Red Onions

If you thought onions were just for adding flavor to dishes, think again. They can also be your avocado's best friend. Place a few large onion pieces in an airtight container and rest your cut avocado on top, ensuring they do not touch.

This method keeps your avocado fresh without transferring any onion flavor to it, as long as they are not in direct contact.

Use the Pit!

Wrap the half with the pit still in it tightly in an eco-friendly wrap, place it in a container, and stash it in the fridge. This method is beautifully simple and requires no special tools or ingredients.
